For trial 2, the top bit is set right, so “the top bit OR the bottom bit start[s] pointed to the right” is true, so a blue ball should be intercepted.
It’s only if neither bit points right - that is, both point left - that a red ball should be intercepted. Check the examples as well as the text for the desired behaviour.
